  • First Time spinning steel wool

obtained some handy utensils and got busy last night/early morning, first time for me, so learning was key for me -- first I use my torch to lightpaint some of the area, walk into the desired location then start spinning, by the time I get back to my camera, a little more expusure time has soaked in some of the surrounds etc

the hardest part is finding a place to spin that would look good -- this shot is my best/fave from the night -- have others where I used more/less wool, more/less force, just testing it all out............good fun, and look forward to finding new places/ideas to try out

Well....First I did some stretching, got into my Iron Man suit and spun the wool like crazy where it just....lit up

Nah mate, striking the steel wool with a 9v battery will get it started, spinning it (keeping the air movement going) will get it fizzing away....careful of the singed hair, a hat did not keep it at bay -- hooded jumper will be worn next time

thanks for the good comment, for a first crack at this process, I've surprised myself even

          Nicely done Flap.

A word of warning for anyone planning on doing this - Be really careful or THIS may happen The poor guy was doing the same thing with a Nikkor 14-14 2.8 and noticed afterwards that one of the pieces of molten metal had hit and fused to the front element of his lens.

Good location, and a great result.
Next time I'd like to see some design in the steel wool light. You like an animal or something!!
