  • Orton Rd mine site

    Situated between Beechworth and Myrtleford.
We had a slow fall off the bike yesterday ... just as we were leaving the mine site our front wheel dislodged a rock ... and down we went ... I landed heavily on a rock (thank god for 'curvy' thighs or it could well have been a broken femur). Bill and bike okay ... I am bruised and sore but otherwise intact.

Whoops.. happens to the best of us. I'm assuming an old Gold mine by the rock types.

Murmungee Gold Mine ... can't find much information about it .... Trove archives 1924 mention a share holders meeting.

Not the first time we have 'fallen' ... but first time I have hurt myself. Bill has managed better bruises (and fractures) over his years of riding.
Working...
