  • Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun 2

Was taking a pic of an interesting clouds formation yesterday, when a helicopter suddenly appeared - banked over me and went back the way it came

A scaley sky. Very interesting and that sun and chopper add the cherry.
Quite tricky to get the detail you have with the sun barely concealed by those thin clouds. Like the colour ring too.

Haven't been there, not done that.

Yes, I was happy with how the exposure turned out. P mode too Very little processing

Sun is very hard to get, good settings, did you try with faster shutter speed the sum may have been more defined. Nice shot and interesting clouds.

Thanks Pete. No I didn't try any other settings. As mentioned, it was taken in P mode so the camera decided the shutter speed. If it was up to me I'd have chosen a much slower shutter speed to get some blur in the rotor blades (from experience). But I had no time to change anything as it was all over in a matter of seconds.

I doubt the sun would be more defined any way one went, as it was heavily filtered behind those clouds.

            Cheers

So cool Alan. The clouds form some spectacular formations and this is one of them. Almost looks like a B&W. I love the sense of scale that the chopper brings to it.
