Tree growing from the ocean

G'day all

Seemingly impossible this Norfolk Island Pine tree has grown directly from the ocean ... presumably from a small rocky lump that we cannot easily see

exif- Panny FZ-2500; 1/320s x F11; ISO-125; 2x zoom / 55mm FFequiv
