  • Old coaching house from the mid 1800s

    G'day all

The Lake Hamilton Eating House was used as a stopping place for coaches and travellers passing through to more distant areas prior to the 1880s.

Love it and this is what I know I would stop of or if no time I would make sure on the return trip I would stop.
What a great building and you have done your bit to preserve it.
      Just love old buildings.

A reminder of how much easier we do it today. Makes me think about how people will look back on our internal combustion and Covid days in a few generations time.

One of the things we are seeing quite often on our travels is the number of 'ghost' village / towns along highways -- where these buildings (if they are still standing) appear to be one-day's horse-coach distance from the next one. This well preserved building was one of those - about 25-miles from the larger town a bit further up the road

Great photo Phil. You've captured the lovely textures of the building and I like your angle. They had a pretty big oven/fire place in there, by the look of the chimney.
