redo of dead tree and hills

the other one looked a bit flat to ( would love your opinion)
so I did a redo

I like the added contrast better in this one Bill, but the green foreground and hills now look quite dark to me. Do you know how to selectively lighten parts of your photo?

Agree with inapickle. Love the hill but think some masked curves adjustments would bring out the shapes more. I would also like to see the tree more isolated - maybe taken from a lower angle which I know becomes more of a problem as we get older. Getting down isn't so hard for me but getting back up can be problematic .
