  • juvenile magpie touchdown

got this magpie coming from a nearby tree
was looking for some perched pics but it went behind a bush, came out again not far from touchdown. only a minor refocus needed and I got a few of it landing.
this one looked the most dramatic but turned out a tad close. the wing tips on the left of frame were right on the edge of the frame so I added a little canvas on the left to sort that. normally you wouldnt get them that close and tc off would be the way to go, probably focusses a bit quicker without it also.
    d5 600f4 tc17(1000mm) 1/2000 f8 iso 1600. full frame with added canvas on left.

Good action Stephen - much more interesting than a static shot. Excellent sharpness and detail, including in the whites.

      thanks mate.
easy to get the whites right when there aint any.
juveniles start out grey and that lightens to whites as they age. the females not go as white as the males especially on back of neck. helps sex them too.
eyes change colour too as the grow up

Great shot with the wings up like that.
