these are one of my favourite small birds. a little while back there was a pair hanging around with a flock of yellow rumped thornbills. I saw them every day and then they just vanished.
spent a lot of time after them. they were perching in a bare maple tree closely watching the garden, pouncing on anything edible. sometimes they were in clear spots, sometimes not but watching them you often got a shot. got heaps of them whilst around so am a happy camper. I wanted a wing extended pic or flight but they were just too jumpy.

thanks folks, for those interested, the backgrounds havent been shopped. just a case of nothing in the background except trees and grass down the back, or hills. the lens bokeh does the work for you.

thanks mate. these taken in late arvo light which is behind me. these were more or less point blank for the lens so that helps and these 2 were relatively cooperative for the few weeks they were hanging around. very often on the same perch too so you could prefocus on that and make a minor adjustment if they came. then just linke that they have vanished. but a few hundred decent pix in the time they were around
