These are a newish bird to me and at time hard to get right while shooting them. Their lighter Grey to Black tops of their head throws you right off.
And it can make it hard to get the just right shots with these but I do feel I have done okay on this lot.

I've never seen these Ralph. Well captured. They look a bit bright, probably the conditions a bit glary.

These are hard to capture right with the colours on the head alone and I was talking with me old mate and he said he still has a lot of trouble in get them post out just right. You get one part right and it knocks about another part about and so on. This is just these birds. I think you need good light but then these need to be in the shade as then that combination works far better on getting a good clear shot.

Exposure is always a challenge Ralph - part of the fabulous journey in photography.

Nice shots Ralph but exposure is challenging with the bird in shade with a bright background.

So true and these buggers don't make it easy either a little like the Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike.
You just have to do your best on the day and some days you will hit it right and then the next miss by a mile.
And this is what pushes me to keep on going out, as then I have a chance at bettering my shot for the last time out.
Working...
