White Ibis with cane toad

Well, we're locked down again for three days, so I'm posting a few images from last year.

This Ibis seemed really excited when it found a cane toad. I did some searches and found a couple of pages that suggested Ibis could handle cane toads. Perhaps they are more useful than I thought.

Good to see the Ibis doing their bit for the environment. I read somewhere that it takes the local wildlife something like 5 generations to learn a behaviour. Most of our wildlife now know that the cane toads have poison sacks between their shoulder blades and now flip them over and go for the belly area.

Lovely catch Alan. We haven't been blessed with can toads yet in the southern regions so our ibis just feed at the tips and local lakes.

The Govt is doing their best to keep them out but it's a tough job. I don't know if they like our weather in the south so I hope they don't get down here too soon.
