  • Todays Walk

My local lake has very little birdlife at the moment, but I've found a place where I can be guaranteed Woodies, PBD's and chesties plus the occasional larger water bird.

#1 Great White Egret with some mates.

#2 I thought that this was a cormorant, but it has a straight bill. All the cormorants I've seen have hooked bills. Any ideas?

#4 A Woodie convention, and most of them are giving the Chestnut Teal (hiding in the grass) the evil eye.

Looks a decent walk John, with a good variety of birds. #2 and #3 is an Australasian Darter.

Thank Alan for that bird ID, much appreciated.

Long walk for an old fella John. Images are on the improve. Nice quantity of ducks there. The darter is a female FYI. The man one has a black head with a white streak through on the side of its head and some of its neck.

Thanks Isac, that is pretty much my daily walk. The spot where the yellow dot is is where these images were taken.
