  • Taking shelter

My birds think that the shelter and chairs I have in the garden are for them.

Here is one of my peacocks sheltering from the rain. I actual fact, this is his spot and he sits there most days.

My indecision is final, I think.

Beautiful bird Charles and lovely composition. (You might have cleaned up or cloned out the droppings though)!

Beautiful bird Charles. I must agree with Greg about the droppings, but I suppose you don't want to disturb Mr. "P" while he's resting.
We have a few of these guys up at Kaarakin and they think they own the place. They do make for stunning photos.

Thanks for the kind comment Greg. And believe me, I'm no stranger to cleaning up droppings.

Thanks Greg. With birds like this around, droppings are a part of life. At least they are good for the garden and compost.

OK, for all the sookie-la-la's, I've cleaned up for you. Just don't ask me to repaint the decking. I know it needs doing when things dry out a bit more.

You noticed. Thanks! I'm very fussy about keeping the deck clean, as you can see,

Interesting to compare the male with an immature female.

That's certainly a magnificent looking bird Charles!! Even though the droppings show him in his natural environment, I prefer the cleaned up version, such a regal bird shouldn't be shown sitting in his own droppings
            Cheers, Brad.

That is a very serene and peaceful image Charles, somewhat reminiscent of the"30's. Did you apply any sepia toning in PP, or is that the natural colour?

Thanks for the comment Brad. Unfortunately, the droppings are a fact of life with these birds around!

Thanks John. No color effects were applied. I shoot RAW, and I only did very basic editing. I did use a fill flash as the bird was heavily shaded compared to the background.

Lovely scene, I could sit in one of those deck chairs all day long sipping a frosty. As long as the peacock didn't poop on me of course :-)

Very pretty to look at but they can be noisy buggers!
