See the difference between the eye in these photos? They can change the amount of red in their eye depending on how exited they are.
It's also a young bird. See it still has some black in it's beak.
Prefer the pose and colours in the first. Do you have a bit more space you can add at left? Just might help the balance of the photo.

I like them both Ironwood. Agree with Mark L. I took the liberty of adding a bit of space to the left (using content aware) which also placed the eye to nearly in the Rule of Thirds position. A couple of shadows adjustments and levels on the bird only.

Cheers Mark. I had noticed the black on the beak and thought it was just a bit grubby .
I also didn't know about the eyes, thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Isac, thanks for taking the trouble to do your version. Last night after I saw yours and Marks comments about needing more room on the left, I went back and checked the original file. It is roughly the same size as your version. I was going to go back and post the full size pic, but got sidetracked and forgot all about it.
