Lovely shot Jess. The eye contact is compelling. That bird almost has an expression on it's face that says:"Job well done!", or similar.
I'm warming to your square format in presenting your photos. Excuse the pun, but it's making me 'think outside my usual square', which is always a good thing. I thank you for that!Charles
My indecision is final, I think.

Great image Jess, the square image reminds me of one of the old Kodak cameras they always had a square image, nothing wrong with that shape.Canon, 5D MK3 5D Mk11 300mm f2.8, 28-300 f3.5-5.6, 70-200 f2.8, 100 Macro.

Thank you so much.
I know I'm supposed to think of the 'triangle' or leaving more of a branch leading to the subject rather than having the subject square on although I did leave a bit of foliage as you mentioned Alan.
You're welcome Charles, nothing wrong with a change of thinking
I just like to see what it is I have photographed 'cos that's what I'm about. Capturing shots of our beautiful and often stunning wildlife.
Never been one for convention in most things though and it is a personal preference.Jess
