Haliastur sphenurus. A couple of grab shots as this one circled briefly at Wallaga Lake this afternoon, while I was trying to take a few Pelican pics. Pretty harsh low, warm, light, but they are the first pics of this bird for me.

The images have survived the large crop well. Pretty frustrating when the raptors refuse to play the game and come down nice and low.

What a good raptor to tilt his wings like that and let that warm light give his/her feathers some detail for you.

I think you may be right It was set at that for the White Egret I was trying to photography moments before. Sometimes you have a win
