not had a chance to take any pix lately with work and weather but finally got a chance to get a few pix.
sadly only from lake belvedere and the usual suspects, but useful practice.

sadly the wind was from the wrong direction for flight pix which is a shame cos I needed some. rusty as...........

all I can do is inflict a few waders on the forum until I get out after the other stuff

Nice behavior shot - not sure why it would want to play with the vegetation though. Looks a bit over-sharpened - (halo on top of head?) but love the face/eye colour and exposure.

the halo is interesting,
because it is on the unsharpened raw shot also and only behind the head.
I am thinking it may be a light big in the water behind the head?
but have no other clues.

it is taking nesting material back to the nest
they were doing so all arvo and nest all year round.
which is why the spot is good to get flight pix.
the wind direction meant that they took off away from me heading back to the nest.


here is one with one heading back to nests. note the unfavourable light, coming from the 3 oclock angle.
that means it is flying away from the light, so no nice catchlights in the eye etc

Ah - ok, thanks for that explanation. People often point out my slipping halos, and it's usually due to me being too enthusiastic with the usm

Don't think I've ever seen one of these, amazing colours surrounding the eyes. All our cormorants up here seem plain black. Beautiful shots.
