Ibis and Moon
24-10-2012, 09:08 PM
Merged an ibis shot with the moon (borrowed Caralan's idea). I quite like it.
Is it convincing??

Hi
I meant to get back to this earlier, sorry.
Glad I inspired someone
Good on you for giving it a go.
But my photo has also been critisied for being too cliched - so be careful who you try to copy
First impression is that, if the bird is the subject, then the moon is too big and too sharp.
Similarly, if the moon is the subject, the bird is too big and too sharp.
Neither could be that sharp in the same photo to look natural IMHO, and the sizes are too similar for a balanced result.
You also have to consider/match the angle/quality of the light.
I'm flattered that my efforts motivated you to try this - thanks - I hope you had fun
(surprised you didn't get any responses)
Cheers
Alan

Thanks Al.
Not quite sure which is the subject of interest for me. Guessed I was trying to create interest in both.
Judging by lack of CC's, guess it's still cliche for this type of post-processing.
To me, it's no different to merging 2 negatives in the darkroom.
