  • Neural filters in Photoshop

I recently discovered the Neural Filters in Photoshop and thought that I would have a play around. I don't know if it's something that I would use a lot, but some interesting effects can be had.

This is an image that I converted to B & W using NIK Silver Efex. I thought that it would be interesting to see what sort of job the Colorization filter in Neural filters would do.

    The original Colour image.

That worked well I thought The skin colour being the most important it did a good job. I will have a look what it says about neural filters. Cheers

I dialed back the saturation a bit Hans as the left section of the wall was taking on a blue hue which was not in the original.

Today I tried out the Background Blur function in Neural Filters.

    With blur added.

Not bad, but the fence and shadow in the foreground did not blur as much as the pathway. Not sure why.

I saved it to a new layer with mask in case it was worth pursuing.

All interesting stuff John. I haven't seen any A.I. that is as good as hand colourising as yet and I think they have a long way to go. I used to colourise images for REDDIT but recently smart arses have starting using A.I. software and claiming that they did the job and want a bit of praise for their Photoshop skills. I don't help them out any more of course. Here's some of mine (by hand) HERE.
I use the tilt shift blur for DOF (old fashioned way) and it works great for me. Keep playing and posting your efforts. I'm tempted to colourise the your father in law but AI seems to be quicker.

The A.I. colouring of my f.i.l. was done without a lot of thought, even so I'm pretty happy with the skin tone and eye colour.

I've never looked at neural filters John, but the colourisation looks to do a good job, although not in the same class as Isac's examples.

Just noticed this Alan, you're a very kind man. I used to do lots of colourisations and A.I. just doesnt cut it for me (yet).
