If I were you, to deal with the white uniforms, I'd be under-exposing the image so that their uniforms are the key focus metering area. Then in post, you can bring up the shadows. It's the way that I edit a lot of cricket shots and helps deal with the over-exposed look of a lot of images when you take shots of white uniforms in the day.

good action captured here.
whites look tad warm but often unavoidable during cricket in bright light,
I often dial in some - compensation to help the whites a bit, so long as it doesnt darken the images overallStephen Davey. Nikon Shooter
