Last night at the camera club we had a guest presenter who did a session on lighting. It was really cool. He set everything up and explained what he was doing and took images to show what he was talking about. Was so much better than watching a powerpoint and having to try and imagine the set-up he was talking about. I have all the gear he was using (well the cheap ebay versions anyway, no pocket wizards here )
Done with 3 speed lights and a piece of white Styrofoam as a reflector. One light with brolly on camera right (45 degrees to subject [me] and slightly higher than head height), reflector camera left. Hair light 45 degrees camera left and a gelled light to colour the curtains.
I set it all up and did some test shots and then handed the camera to the missus. Dangerous i know but it survived and she managed some super sharp images. Lens was a Canon 50mm 1.4 at f5, 1/160 iso 100.
This was just before we packed up, i gave her a monopod to use as the tripod was too limiting and the camera was too heavy for her to hold free hand. She handed the monopod back to me and then told me to hold it over my shoulder as such;
I'm not so sure on the colour of the background here but she chose it and anyway, it goes with my eyes. Doesn't it
After these i think this is the last time i will give her the camera, shows me up too much. lol
