I went for B/W as it seems to be more in keeping with Victoriana, but I quite like the colour version too

Both good. The B&W fits the period but the colours are beautiful too.

Both very good Mark. I'd like to see a bit more added to the left, I think the photo is a bit too close to the edge. I love this kind of image and you've done really well. Very creative and well thought out. For the colour version, I would give it a bit of an aged look as below and place the items on an old wooden surface for more authenticity. These are only my thoughts and sometimes they are a bit odd. I hope you don't mind me having some fun

Here is a good old photo master base for your photo. Place it in place in Photoshop and make that layer multiply. Flatten image and Bob is your uncle.

Paul, I have combined these two images and Flattened the layers. Unsure what that is supposed to do, but is this what you would expect???

I have used the parched shot as a base, maybe I should have placed the parched jpg onto the bird...
