      Much as I normally like black and white photos, in this case I think it has taken most of the atmosphere away from the photo. The coloured version glows with warmth and life.

        Agreed. Much prefer the colour version. The processing in BW seems to have robbed the atmosphere/ambient.

          I also agree when I seen the first photo I was thinking to myself well Alan if this is not a portrait what is ? I love it to bits if this was my photo I would be in frame and hanging on the wall. Its great the ambient light gives it a lift taken away from the B&W you lose so much. I am normally a big fan of B&W but at the same time feel it has its place but this is not its place IMO top shot Alan

            That's one of the most beautiful and evocative images I've seen for a long time. Definitely the colour version, loses all the warmth in the b&w.
