  • Mona (Museum of old and new Art) Hobart

They had to excavate three floors of sandstone to put the museum under the ground, very impressive structure....

Digestion Machine, the place stinks of food that is going through the digestive process through the machinery....

    Various Body Parts....

This is a living exhibit, he sits stationary with his back to the viewers for hours every day, apparantly he has already been paid $200K and has donated his skin to the museum when he dies....

I have heaps more photos which I dont really want to put on the forum, they would offend a lot of people, some of them are disgusting, a lot of the art is meant to shock and it does not disappoint in that regard.

I can imagine what some of them are too.
It is an incredible place and so kind of him to open this up for the public, most of the exhibits went right over my head although I did love the snake made up of hundreds of individual paintings, they didn't have your tattoed man when I went. So what was your overall impression? I personally didn't really enjoy it and probably would not go back however I think this illustrates my lack of lateral thinking.

The snake exhibit made up of 1500 paintings was actually very good, painting were by Sydney Nolan.

I agree with you, I am not narrow minded and the almost perverse art did not offend me, just made me question the integrity of the artists.
For example......Putting lipstick on your anus and imprinting it on paper, than exhibiting it as art....????
Or taking video of pimples being sqeezed.....?

Ah well, if it makes people think and talk about it, than they are achieving what they set out to do.
