I remember looking after someone's pet rat for a weekend. Thought we had lost it at one stage.
Maybe you can drug them to slow them down. We had a club member that used to put insects in the fridge to slow them down before taking pictures of them.
The images came out well and would go in the family album but I would probably crop them or change the cage background.
Better a full bottle in front of me
    than a full frontal lobotomy.

Good looking rat. It camouflages well in its little home. They could come up well with a little PP

        Hi Sharon

A pet photographer told me years ago that the trick they used was to feed the animal beforehand, so that it did not feel like being too active later
Dunno how this would go with your 'menagerie' but "ya never know"

Nice shots. They make great pets. Our three boys had one each at one point when they were growing up. The only downside was they did chew speaker cables a couple of times.
