  • Once upon a time..........

I used to do wood turning for a hobby. However injuries and wear & tear on my body suffered during my career as a fitter and turner (carpal tunnel/ulner nerve damage) forced me to give it up.
I apologise for the pretty ordinary images, they were taken before I fully understood things like composition, lighting, DOF etc. I thought it was all about the camera and so I purchased my first DSLR, a Canon 7D and thought my pictures would magically improve. How wrong can a person be? Thus began my journey into photography.
All photo's taken with a Konica Minolta Z20. While it had manual setting capability, it was very fiddly, so I just used Auto or Scene Select.

Fabulous work John, you are a credit to your craft. I used to do a bit of turning back in the day on a lathe that my dad made. I made a few bowls and lamp shade stands and a lot of clocks from jarrah burls. It's a good feeling to know you can create something useful from a chunk of wood.

Fellow fitter and turner with an unused wood turning lathe. To preocupied with other things like photography. Use my metal lathe for the odd repair job. As woodwork was my favourit subject at school I always thought I would be doing some as I got older. Other than building a house it never happened. Appreciate your efforts though.

      Some beaut examples there John.
I've inherited a nice collection of Huon pine and Sassafras pieces over time. But I'm not clever enough to have done any of them.
