  • Hot Glass

A series of images showing glass blowing.
My wife and I did a cruise to Hawaii earlier this year, and to my surprise there was a fully functioning glass blowing studio on the top deck. There were two shown every sea day and I went to nearly all of them. The evening ones were the most interesting as you could see the glass glowing white hot.

Great set John, I have a similar set taken at the Deloraine craft fair a couple of years back. It’s amazing work and the products incredibly cheap considering.

Not real pleasing to get outbid, but good to be rubbing shoulders with the well heeled! The oinly thing I won on a cruise is the bingo jackpot on the last day of a cruise on the Gemini.

I made a bid of US$1600 on a really nice platter, only to have someone go straight to US$2200. I was already $400 over my limit, so I kept my hands in my pockets for the rest of the night. At a meet and greet after the auction I found out from the artist that she would do the same piece for me for US$1200. just shows how carried away people get at auctions.
