I was just looking at moss today and thinking how beautiful it is.
You have captured that soft velvety green so nicely.
I like how that mossy trunk is leading into the fern.

Thanks Jo. I love to get out in the bush by myself (much to my wife's disdain), at least I carry a locator beacon should I ever require some assistance. Trying to capture the feel is another challenge all together. Sunny days make it very difficult with the huge variations in light and while dull rainy days make it easier to get a good exposure, but it doesn't help to keep the camera and lens dry! (Not to mention the photographer!)

I agree. the contrast issues can be a big problem.
The random business of the forest also causes composition issues as does the sheer size of some subjects.
I once stacked 16 imaged to get an image of a karri tree. Turned out long and skinny and not particularly impressive looking when viewed on the net. . maybe I should print it on a toilet roll or something.
Sun low in the horizon or bright cloudy days are my favourite times for just about every sort of photo.

I feel your pain with the sunlight problem, we live on a heavily tree'd property thats in a valley, when the sun is above the hills on either side, the sunlight comes through the trees in shafts, making exposure difficult, when the sun is below the hilltops, its great for tripod shots, but handholding the camera for birds etc becomes very difficult. Thats why most of my bird shots are high iso.
