  • Orchids

This is a selection compiled from both my own, (I have about a dozen or so) and a friend's who has over 200 species. I don't have all the botanical names and I only refer to them as Cymbidiums, Moth orchids.. little white ones etc. (Have enough trouble keeping all the Latin names of my marine creatures in my head)!

The shots were taken with either my Sony A65 or A57 fitted with Sigma 105mm and Flash used.

Thanks Bart. There is such a huge variety in them and most last quite a long time. Have a few Cymbidiums flowering at the moment and expect they will last a month or so.

Some little Chinese ground orchids I have in the front garden seem to thrive on neglect (which suits me fine). They'll flower later in the year and also last a month or more.

Very nice indeed Greg. You've photographed them well showing all their detail and colour. Some of them (like most orchids) always remind me of other things, especially animals. Beautiful. I get one Bigibbum and you have all these - you must be pretty rapt with them.

These are not all mine, but I enjoy the one's that are. (Don't look after them very well though)

            Beautiful images Greg

Bill's father grew them, back in the day.

Thank you all. Have another Cymbidium coming into flower at the moment, but it's very similar to one I posted a week or so back.
