Certainly don't see marching girls any more around here - maybe still going down south. I do remember some groups in this area in the 60s. Watched these girls in Zagreb, Croatia - all different age groups were involved. Amused me in #2 to note one girl in the back more interested in her tunic than the routine.

Great photos P Plates. I still remember them here in the West, performing in the shows and fetes. I recall I had been promoted to the marching band leader after playing drums and cornet. Came the big fete day at Yokine Primary School and I was leading our band with the marching girls following along behind. All good until I gave the signal which was supposed to turn the band in a large arc to proceed around the edge of the school perimeter. The signal I gave was to about turn and proceed back from whence we came. Our band stopped, turned 180 degrees and kept marching, straight back through the middle of the marching girls. They were quite good at side stepping left and right to let our boys through, much to the disgust of our brigade chief. After that I went back on the drums. Just a bit of a laugh now though

Love the outfits and boots, very smart .. Reckon it will be a bit exy to be a marching girl although in the UK I remember them being called 'majorettes'. I wanted to be one and a friend was one and showed me how to twirl the baton and so I have practiced over the years with anything of similar size .. heck even the broom will do lol.
