  • Not something you see everyday!

I was camped at Farina ruins for two days but dark skies and drizzling rain forced me to make a run for Lyndhurst where the dirt ends and the bitumen starts. Interesting 25km drive with the steering wheel not much more than something to hang on to during the scary bits, spent more time sideways then straight and just as I made it to the blacktop I found this aircraft parked on the road.

Low cloud had forced the pilot to make an emergency landing and he parked the plane on the road, quite neatly I thought. The road was closed, I was the last vehicle to get through so it's no real drama having a plane parked where it is but it was an interesting and unexpected sight!

Rain does tend to make getting around out that way a bit more 'interesting',

It washes out the roads and the colours

I remember Lyndurst as the start of the bitumen and I spent a night at the pub there some years ago in a luxury shipping container.

Good to see the pilot keeping a lane free, just in case a Prince has to make an emergency drop off

At first I thought Harry had dropped in for a social call.

The last two weeks have offered a palate of grey and brown, I've hardly fired a shot and now I'm in Adelaide and it's raining. And it's raining up around Cooper Pedy.

Not sure what my next move is other than to find a good second hand bookshop to stock up on supplies as I wait for the Anne Beadell track to dry. Hopefully, when I'm desert bound again the wildflowers will be in full bloom, the entire trip has been based around the AB and wildflowers.

Dusty is angry, she's gaffa taped to the bullbar to guard the Lux while I watch the footy in the motel room. Could be quite a scene in the morning.

Glad you managed to get one of the luxury containers.

My tent is rolled up wet and waiting for the mildew and mould to set in... desert travel is so much fun.

My indecision is final, I think.

Ah! That was going to be my first question Charles.

Still looking at noon (ish) from my end.

Definitely not something you'd expect to see but guess the road it pretty straight as well so you got plenty of warning.
