  • Sky Show tonight

A terrific storm of lightening, rain and accompanying thunder hit the Adelaide Hills tonight. Turned night into day at times.

Naturally the first thing I did was get the camera and tripod out and went outside onto the front lawn. Yes, I got into trouble. (She still cares!)

Here is the best shot, taken when completely dark, except for the lightening.

My indecision is final, I think.

A beautiful display, I'm glad someone beside the poodles care!
I'll have to get more adventurous and try this one day.

    Cheers.

Looks awesome and something I've always wanted to have a go at - although reading Chris (Dragonfly's) warnings does give me pause. Like Kevin we rarely - like one in 5 years - get storms so may only get the chance when travelling. Of course Elizabeth and Bella care but smart enough to stay safely inside

Excellent shot. Light in the forground really gives this some depth.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone.

The news this morning reported that there were 80,000 lightening strikes across the state, and 2,000 homes still without power as of this morning.

Apparently, the storms have reached Melbourne.

I'm perhaps fortunate to have a view to the south, so I can see the 'weather' coming.

PS The poodle is ok, although a bit shaken by the thunder.

A keeper! Not easy to get them like that. Well done. This gets the Isac Wall hanger Award.

Well done to get two strikes Charles. We haven't had a decent storm for ages.

                  Glad Bella survived the trauma.

                    Brilliant capture Charles

We had some storms go through this morning, very narrow bands, a little rain with lots of noise. The gusty winds came through about 1pm .... a lot of flower blossoms will be destroyed .... typical, the local flower show is on at the end of this week
