    I thought Coots had white beaks, but I could be wrong (I often am). I like how you've captured him intent on getting down to the water.

      You are probably right there Gabby. I'm no expert on birds and I tend to call all of these type of birds Coots. On looking it up the book says Purple Swamp Hen.

          Yes it certainly looks like it, different beak shape and colouring to the Purple Swamphen.
