The good lady wife and I recently went on a small trip around the bottom half of the South Island in New Zealand and we also spent a few days around Auckland.

There is a tree located in Karaka which has been a popular subject by many of the local enthusiasts, and I made it my mission this time to get at least one image of it It's aptly named "Susie's tree" after Susie who is a member of the local camera club (also apparently lives just down the road from the tree) was the first to start publishing images of the tree.

Here is one of my efforts

    From Wikipedia
Karaka is a small rural area of Auckland, New Zealand. Formally part of Franklin District, under the authority of the Franklin District Council it is now part of Auckland City (under the Franklin Local Board[1]) following the amalgamation of the Auckland regions councils.
It is primarily a rural town associated with horse studs as well as dairy and sheep farming. In recent times, some of the pastoral land has been subdivided into expensive residential plots.

Another popular industry around the South Auckland area is Market Gardening

I couldn't find any paddocks with a decent backdrop, deep furrows, and/or nice lighting, so this one had to do

    Cheers Richard !

Thanks Sandy, I've been having a bit more of a play with this image and have cloned out the tree branches on the left hand side, as I find them a little distracting.
        Cheers Richard !

I like both of these .. very appealing for postcards. Susie's tree, what a sweet icon to photograph.

Another from Auckland. This is one waterfall taken from different locations

Hunua Falls taken in changing light

The Hunua Falls is located in the western part of Hunua Ranges Regional Park. The spectacular 30 metre waterfall is part of the Wairoa River which carves through an ancient volcano as it winds its way north through the township of Clevedon, before meeting the Hauraki Gulf.

All beautiful shots Richard. #1 - lone tree on a curved hill always works for me, pretty sky is an added bonus. The first of the waterfall shots is my pick. We are lucky to have NZ with its stunning landscapes so close.

We had a fantastic time thanks Scott. The images on Flickr give a good overview of the trip, but there are also a number of fill-in images which I've yet to upload. Now that i've finished processing the images from the trip, I'm in the throws of adding titles and text, as I'm planning to make a photobook of our little adventure.
                    Cheers Richard !
