The first time we tried to get to the bridge was via a 4WD track ...... unfortunately we encountered a section of loose shale about 10m in length on an incline .... we managed to get half way through before it became a case of 'abandon ship' or suffer the consequences . As I have a 'dicky knee' and usually get off the bike last, it was quite an effort to 'step off' (while Bill stabilised the bike) .... but it was either 'step off' of 'fall off'. Bill managed to gingerly 'point the front wheel downward' and rode back down, while I held my breath, then I 'skated' back down the shale.
A couple of days later we took the route through Benambra, an easier ride.
One thing we have noticed on this trip is the degradation to a lot of the tracks in the bush .... be it due to the rain, fires or lack of maintenance by relevant authorities. It won't be long before they are impassable and will be closed for good.

This is the vehicle crossing over the Mitta River, just upstream of the bridge. Camping area on the right.
