At certain times of the year Spider Crabs form these large aggregations where they appear to mate, shed their shells and some die. The aggregation can be up to a metre or so thick and cover quite a large area. Not a lot is known about where or when it will occur next. I've seen it personally in three diffent locations, usually in reatively shallow water (Less than 10 metres).
