  • Uh-Oh Another Selfie

    I received my D700 remote trigger in the mail the other day and lacking any suitably attractive person to test it on I'm 'victimising' myself this afternoon.

    This shot was taken in the lounge room using natural light filtering in through the window 3 metres away to the left;
    Black shirt and black velvet backdrop for contrast;
    D700 and 70-200f2.8 @ 2.8 @190mm, ISO 200, 1/100sec centre weighted average metering and focus.

    I managed to get plenty of detail despite cropping from 6mp to 2mp.
    I need a shave and my brows trimmed

    Wow these are incredibly detailed! Love the b&w - nice and contrasty (reminds me of Clive James!) I really like these, for a lounge room set up its worked really well. The depth of focus is excellent, you can see where it drops away in your eye (our left) and you have managed to keep the eye sharp. Very nice.

    PS glad to hear the backdrop was velvet and not your shirt ...

        Nice detailed shots mate!

        I love the coloured one. Please take no offence, but your age mixed with modern vibrant colours feels like you are both wise and modern.

          Couldn't offend me even if you tried Richard. The plus of being an old fart!

          Timmo, yeah, I should change my sig. Rarely grumpy these days

            Excellent!

            Agree with Twisty re the Clive James look.

            I wouldn't worry too much about the shave or trim, at our age it's all about the quantity of hair with less emphasis on quality and placement matey.

            Let it grow!

                Maaate, If only the hair on my head would grow with the same enthusiasm as the nostril and ear hair I'd be a happy camper!

                  By the way Andrew, I need my polyester bodyshirt back, and the safari suit and green flares.

                        Nicely done! Amazing the difference between colour and black and white in that the B&W brings up such interesting textures which are not seen in the colour. Great focus.

                          Thanks Jenne - the remote autofocus works really well - I was a bit surprised how well actually. The unit is a Satechi wireless remote - press one button for focus another for shutter actuation.

                            Beautifully done - like them both, but leaning towards the b&w (and no reflections in the glasses )

                            Almost inspired me to let my beard go back to a full one

                              Oh dear, the sad part is I believe you when you say you still have them hahaha
