that looks like my pin up girl. I like that photo Jules.
Couple of editing ideas Jules. Still not sure about the WB
Rework edits are usually done in a minute or so on a laptop in a room with variable lighting and will not be perfect and must be seen as a editing guide only.
I was not there when the photo was taken and I can only guess the colours and conditions.
Full editing service available; for a fee of course.
Thanks for the edits Ian but no thanks!
I know what you are trying to do ......but..... I specifically took it with a warm glow in mind. The very late afternoon golden light appealed at the time. It is how I want it as I was trying to express my feelings for her in the photo. I feel I have achieved that.

I appreciate your efforts though.

yeah but yeah but; i reckon that's a "mistake" we all make at sometime. I'm thinking more lightness V darkness here and hopefully this will turn into a bit of a chit chat about it as i'm interest to hear what others think. Bit of a follow on from EM's thread
when you looked at Maureen with stars in your eyes Jul........Sorry i mean when were taking the photo i wouldn't think you saw her face as dark as you have presented the photo to us; your eyes adjusted to the available light. If there were soft shadows [as in em's first image] instead of the rather flat lighting it would be totally different image. However this image has flat lighting and to me it should not be as dark as presented.
but as i said in em's thread "the true correct exposure is always in the eye of the photographer"
Just did some rough PS painting to add "shadow" into the image to sort of match em's image to try and show what i'm on about.
As they say "expression sells" and this is one of the best photos I seen of Maureen; there is no arty farty stuff going on, and the warm light means or adds very little to the appeal of the photo IMO. It's just a lovely photo that records Maureen so well
WB set on the whites of the eyes or teeth give a very different colour as presented and the histograms from different parts of the image only have the eye white and teeth as any thing near white.
I'm interested to hear what others think. When it all boils down i don't really it make much difference to this photo if it's a little dark or a little light; either way it's pleasant photo to look at.
I hope you both don't mind me making Maureen a topic of discussion and I'm sure the mods will remove it if you wish Jules.
I am the first to admid I am not a Posed portrait photographer. I have had most success with catpures of people that present themselves.
It is fair comment and something to think about and I don't mind you using it as an example so we can all learn, me included. If I were taking a different person I would probably agree, most of the portraits I do do involve natural light and shadow, character shots and I'm on a learning curve using my flash as infill, in circumstances like this.
I still love it as it is but looking at it without rose coloured glasses I have to admit I agree!
