I can't believe how different my shots look after you people have played with them. Boy do I have a lot to learn!
The photo was taken near the dump so could have been any old bit of rubbish. Certainly looks better without it.

Like I said above , I like your photos , the exposure is good ,
just try some Highlight adjustment , lift some Shadow , how much really depends on personal preference ,
then some contrast , you will be surprised the difference it will make

just remember a good B+W is not made simply by desaturating the image
