G'day all
For all the steam train enthusiasts amongst us, ~ here's one for you
The Queenstown to Strahan Wilderness Railway, a reopened railway in the rain forests of western Tasmania, has started its holiday running for 2014-15, and we went on yesterday's run
Here's some of my memories
1- At the station ... a foreshortened view via long lens ~ and if your monitor is good, at 100% you'll see the streaks of rain pelting down across the front of the engine
exif = Panny G2; 1/125s x f5,6; 14-140 @ 65mm [190mm ff equiv]; iso-160
2- Loco number 3 at a rest stop, getting a refill from the water tank
exif = Panny G2; 1/60s x f4,5; 14-140 @ 28mm [80mm ff equiv]; iso-200
3- Morning Glory - that time of day when everything is spick 'n span and polished ready to go
exif = Panny G2; 1/40s x f4,8; 14-140 @ 45mm [135mm ff equiv]; iso-100
4- Steam rising around the whistle
exif = Panny G2; 1/320s x f5,6; 14-140 @ 140mm [400mm ff equiv]; iso-320
5- More steam etc etc
exif = Panny G2; 1/320s x f5,6; 14-140 @ 140mm [400mm ff equiv]; iso-500
6- Getting up close & personal ~ steam bleeding from the wheels area
exif = Panny G2; 1/50s x f5,6; 14-140 @ 95mm [290mm ff equiv]; iso-100
7- More of the same
exif = Panny G2; 1/60s x f4,5; 14-140 @ 30mm [90mm ff equiv]; iso-125
8- And still more ... !
exif = Panny G2; 1/80s x f4,7; 14-140 @ 40mm [115mm ff equiv]; iso-640
The weather during the day was a mixture of weak sun to moderate rain - which brought on its own set of issues to add to the shivering from time to time
As always, feedback welcome
Phil
