    I prefer the crop. Like the detail in all the different textures and how the cracks in the mud appear more dominant. I find my eyes move more slowly and with more interest over this image than the first.

        yep; you have picked the or my mistake. I didn't look into the subject enough before I snapped the first image. No idea why I took two pics the same

        just a little more sunlight would have been handy also

          Looked at one and thought. "needs a subject, if you cropped it the small gumnets could be"
          then in two you had done just that.

          Initially thought, "bit busy still" and tried to think about CCs but the more I looked the more I started to like it and couldn't put any particular theory or rule to it.
          Abstract and lots to look at but busy still.
          Went back to one and decided I like the finger like twisted branches.
          Fickle I am. Think two would work best as a portait. give the branch a sense of life.
          I think I just like how I can see the whole circle of life thing happening, earth, weather, potential life and decay
