2. Are those trees creating a natural frame around it?

Yes Scotty in my understanding of framing its about having something either around the subject like your peeking in or something like just the top of the branch over hang if you like that frames off the image but I could have that wrong

With the first there is too much space on the outside of the trees so the trees aren't really framing the image. I gave it a crop to show you what I mean.

ROF LO L: all great minds think alike. I did the exact crop before seeing Mick's. Now the trouble is there is no subject

and the windmill: again too much space. As the say: move in close/r
