  • red backed parrot

    Didn't see its back they were in that grassy clump on the side of the road. Samsung phone 30X magnify through a dirty windscreen and cropped. Putting it here because I don't recall having seen one before. This one was at a roadside information stop in Mudgee NSW

        I presume they are more common in Stephen's direction as the one I looked up to identify it came from Canberra.

      Amazing for a phone shot under those conditions. Not exactly sharp but more than good enough for identification. Well spotted.

      looks like their distribution is from SEQ through NSW and VIC and into SA. More inland than coastal.

        Not seen any here Hans, so a good catch. From reading up on them, the red on their back is only a small section that sits under their wing so not easy to see unless photographing from behind them.
