According to some who delve deeply into these things the Nokia Lumia has the best phone camera. I have been more than happy with the Sony Xperia
Handy to take pictures at short notice

    Thanks Alan.

The iphone has certainly impressed me. Some of these show banding in the sky when viewed larger and that's disappointing but I'm guessing it's caused by panning either to fast or slow. Maybe?

Keeping the iphone steady while panning is a little tricky too, got a few images with pretty wild horizons! Should have photoshop CC up and running tomorrow btw.

I have a few panos that could do with a little tweak here and there so am looking forward to having a play.

I suspect that it may be caused by small adjustments in exposure but I have been known to be wrong once. Great record of where you have been though.

Yes, horizons are problematic. I've found PS 'warp' helps.

I did notice the banding, (not sure why that occurs - I have noticed it in my panos as well), but that can be corrected with a bit of PS work (when you get it back)

I'll have a look at 'warp'.

Have a gig this weekend shooting a local event and that will keep me tied up for a while. It's a high pressure gig and I need to put everything else on the back burner for a while.

How do you tackle the banding? Not asking for a tutorial but would appreciate if you could steer me in the right direction as I'm fairly clueless as to how to tackle it.

For the banding, I select the sky and use the clone tool set to low to mid opacity and sort of clone one bit of sky over the other. You might need to lower the opacity and do it in stages. (use a soft brush)

Sometimes it works. Others may have a better method.
