  • Some useful links for star photography

How To Shoot The Night Sky (An Introduction)
How To do Milky Way Photography (A Comprehensive Tutorial)
The Epic Battle Between Choosing Star Trails Over Star Points

    The 600 Rule
I hope these links will prove helpful to our members in their endeavour to improve their photography skills.

I have also attached a simple spreadsheet to calculate the shutter speed for various sensor sizes. It was written using OpenOffice, but saved in Excel format so should work for most people.
Let me know if there are any problems using it. You will have to download the file to be able to use it.

    Exposure Calc.xls

EDIT: I have adjusted the exposure calculator to 500 as this seems to reflect the commonly accepted value.

It's showing as a broken link Phil. How did you try to attach it?

I have managed to upload your PDF. Had to increase file size allowance slightly.
