Red Moon..........

Over the last couple of evenings, we had a Red/orange moon. Almost a full moon.

Reason being, the wild fires in N orth America have polluted the upper atmosphere, and that has blown over with the Jet Stream.

Now dispersed due to another North American hurricane remnants....

Wonderful when you get good shots of the moon Mark. I probably have more than I need. It is a fascinating object and because of different events that happen on Earth, it can throw up some exciting variations to the colours that are projected on it. Did you know we can only see one side of the moon from earth? Only photos captured from spacecraft have shown us the "Dark Side" of the moon. CC, It could be a little sharper and brighter

Just a couple of tips:
1. To sharpen moon shots, try:
Copy Layer (Ctrl+J)
Set layer MODE to Linear Light
Filter > Other > High Pass... and drag the slider from L to R until the sharpness looks good (not overcooked).

2. I always get good results using the Looney 11 rule:
f:11 / then match shutter speed and ISO
eg: F/11 - 400 shutter speed - 400 ISO
It's not perfect but gets great results and it's easy to tweek the ISO and shutter to get results you want.

Isac, you always come up with processing gems...

I really only use Lightroom, and occasionally dip into PS for the odd process.

Along with the Sphere filter, I must try your advice out.

Also, I take on your f11 looney rule....it's catching..

Nice shot, but it's upside down . It does look a bit dark but perhaps that's how it looked with the smoky atmosphere.

I did try to do the least PP'ing here. In reality, the moon was brighter. But it was quite dim too, and detail was pretty well obliterated..

I remember travelling down from Brisbane to Sydney in about 1969 on the overnight train. I could see the mass of stars through the window, and it suddenly occurred to me that I was looking at Orion , upside down...
