NGC7000 The North America Nebula last night .. named as it resembles the USA and Canada outline ... this is a 3hour image taken in the skies above Shropshire England.

Amazing colours. Facinating I wonder if any civilisation advanced enough to know of our existance would be interested in us. We have no idea of what incredible things are out there.

I dont use a scope, just my Canon 80D and either 150-600mm sigma lens or my 70-200mm Tamron lens. as I already had these and a good tripod all I needed was the mount, laser and software,I made my own counter weight (cost £20) you can see my set up belowcost around £370 all in.Originally posted by avkomp View Post

I was wondering what your laser was pointing at but it's not an alignment laser, it's a pointing laser. I don't want to go down a rabbit hole but how do you polar align? -
miscat1066 .... after leveling the mount and setting the azimuth, I switch on the laser (as I can be using 600mm the fov is quite tight) and point the laser at the north star ... and centre it up in the rear screen.... then switch on the mount and software (synscan) and do a 2 or 3 star align and looking at the laser track adjust the mount with the arrows (as sometimes the star you are trying to align to isn't in the cameras screen, so the laser will show you which adjustments you have to make) ... I hope I have explained that well enough . -
Ah Ok it's a polar agignment when you point the camera at the pole. I also have one of those mounts. Almost in shropshire too!
