Daytime shot of the moon

Technically not a night time image, but it is a photo of the moon.
Taken at 5:40 P.M. EDST still plenty of daylight left. I will be taking more shots as the skies darken.
Not too sure how to process this image, some tips would be greatly appreciated.
Waxing gibbous %73 full.
Canon 7D MkII Sigma 150-600. F6.3, 1/800, ISO100

#2 Some Clarity, Vibrance and Dehaze (very small) adjustments made in ACR, and a touch of sharpening in CC2020.

On the monitor at home you can clearly see stars, barely visible on the uploaded version.

Very nice John. Good camera settings to get the great shading and light and very crisp detail. Maybe try a faster shutter to get even more detail. As you know, the moon never stops moving and 1/15th or 1/80th may be a tad slow. Perhaps 1/250+. This is only my own thoughts, maybe others will offer something different.

Will try again tonight, although there is significant cloud coverage today and it doesn't look like clearing.

Interesting nice and clear shots. Noted that whe watching the moon the other day in Saigon only the bottom was lit and I don't recall ever seeing that before. looked like a dish.
Seems like a lot of mereor hits on the top must have come from one direction. Must have turned at one time or the earth would have shielded the face to us. Or could our gravity have changed the trajectory to such an extent?

Thanks for the feedback Hans. Maybe the further north you go the "dark side" changes position. You can see the difference in the shadow between the 8:40 shot and the 9:07 shot.

You probably have this site for Moon Phases John. It's not easy to make the moon "pop" because the sky colour seeps through into the moon. The best way I've found is to select the moon and copy it to a new layer. Soft brush to erase the lower part of the moon, then add a Curves Adjustment layer with settings below. I used a Levels Adjustment layer for the BG to darken the sky a little, though not essential. I hope this helps.

Thanks Isac, I use an App on the phone (Wily Weather) for moon phases, it also does tides/swell, sunrise/sunset. Quite a handy App.
Thanks for the workflow, I'll have a go at it.
