  • Aurora Australis

Last night was predicted to be a strong display by AA. However, a brighter than average moon and fog low in the sky in Northern of Tasmania made it less than exciting.

I spent an hour and a half next to the Mersey River waiting for the show around 9 pm and this is the best of what I got. Apparently the South of the state did much better as you would expect.

Pretty good for the situation you were in Greg. There's always a next time.

Yes thanks, I don't mind when they are predicted at a civilized hour, but these after midnight ones can happen without my company!

I reckon it'd be getting a bit nippy over your way at that hour Greg.

Decent effort to get any colour at all Greg given the conditions. At least you know you're in a reasonable position to try again when conditions are better.

Ah Greg .... where's your sense of adventure?
You know that all of us would be out till well after midnight [ha ha]

Seriously - it is the old story - we have to take what's given to us, unless we go to extra-ordinary efforts and push off south to Macquarie Island or somewhere like that

#1 looks very atmospheric, and there is more than a hint of aurora in #2.

Go south young man, go south!

My indecision is final, I think.
