  • Coal wharf at night

Oops just realised I put the b&w in this section as well - please feel free to move it if you want. Went out with a social group to do night photography. Due to others' work commitments we didn't get started until 7.30 - not the best time.

    G'day Glenda

Whether or not it's the 'best' time or not does not matter - you were there & got a great shot

Once having discovered more about the 'how-to' stuff, you can easily [hopefully] return at the 'best' time
ps- sometimes when I'm doing stuff like this, before pressing the button I play with running my hand across the lens to cut out the very bright lights and noticing where my hand is in front of the lens - then some way thru the exposure I do it again - this time to knock back the brightness of that part of the scene. It works better the longer the exposure

    Well done anyway
    Phil

Yes can always return, this isn't far from home. Thanks for the tip about the hand. Those lights were incredibly bright and quite distracting but do like the reflection they produced.

Yes the lights are very bright & they create a beaut reflection - and the waving hand across part of the lens can cut it back by maybe 1/3rd in many cases
It might just make a difference

I've just read your post Phil...thanks heaps for the tip.
Your idea/suggestion can be used in so many different ways with other aspects of photography.

I will be keeping this mind when I do my landscape stuff ...

It's a bit the same way we use to "Dodge and Burn" way back when

Sorry to hijack your thread Glenda
