  • Macros with reversing ring

K1W1 's post about using extension tubes reminded that I had tried some macros using a reversed 28mm lens on my D80 DSLR. The lens is a 28mm Super Takumar. The lens filter thread mounts to the reversing adaptor. I used flash with probably auto exposure but the lens was totally manual.

I was surprised at the results but it was very fiddly getting focus correct and, from memory, the working distance was very short.

These are both almost the full APS-C frame with very little cropping.

Billiant shots Alan. Great when it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks Isac. I should try the setup again if I can find the reversing ring. I can't remember exactly why I didn't keep using it.

    Great shots
I've never managed anything as good with any of my macro gear.

Thank you. I was a bit surprised at how sharp they turned out. Much easier with a proper macro lens although you don't get the same magnification.
